Swing a hand at it

Five gestures, none of which need a clean finger:

• Swing left to right to set the suction volume
• One swing turns on the light and the suction
• A second swing starts turbo
• A third returns to the second volume
• Swing right to left to switch it off

A baffle plate that closes behind the smoke

Open, the plate separates escaping smoke from the face of the hood. Closed, it stops smoke leaking back out of the centre tunnel, which is where a hood that has stopped running lets the kitchen back in.

Patented V-shaped housing

The volute is shaped to let the air leave the impeller without fighting the wall of the housing, which is where a cheaper hood makes both its noise and its losses.

Questions about the V991

What size is the VATTI V991?

895 mm wide, 444 mm deep and 622 mm tall at the body. The chimney cover is 420 mm wide and draws out between 450 and 790 mm. Built into a cabinet it needs a 910 mm opening with a removable shelf above.

How high should the V991 be installed above the hob?

400 to 500 mm from the hob surface to the bottom of the hood, or 1,250 to 1,350 mm off the floor over a standard 850 mm cabinet.

What ducting does the V991 need?

A 7 inch run, hole 2,220 to 2,320 mm off the floor, outlet 190 mm across, hose 180 mm inside and 185 mm outside, with at least 120 mm from the telescopic pipe to the ceiling.

How do the hand gestures work?

Swing a hand left to right to set the volume: one swing turns on the light and the suction, a second starts turbo, a third goes back to the second volume. Swing right to left to switch it off. It is there so the controls never need touching mid-cook.

Is 2,050 m³/h enough for wok cooking?

In a kitchen with a short duct run, yes, and the baffle plate helps by holding the smoke at the canopy. At 460 Pa it is not the model for a long shared riser on a high floor: the V997 at 1,200 Pa and the V929 at 1,300 Pa are.

How is the V991 cleaned?

A cold-wash auto-clean cycle behind a water-proof motor, with a piano-black body that wipes down in one pass. Oil filtration is 85%.

What warranty does the V991 carry, and where can I buy it?

Two years on the hood and ten years on the motor, for the original buyer, bought from an authorised dealer; register it at VATTI eWarranty at the time of purchase. VATTI Malaysia does not sell online, so the price is the dealer's: find the nearest one in the dealer directory.
